Laser engraver
My CO2 Laser Engraver

My name is Jay and Precision Art Designs, or as I affectionately call it “PAD,” is a creation born from both need and interest. For years, I worked in IT and as a remote consultant from home. Back in 2020, I bought my first Chinese laser engraver, something that had always piqued my curiosity. I had seen them on YouTube and thought it would be neat to try making things for friends and family. So, I purchased a $400 Chinese K40 laser with a 5-gallon bucket, a fish tank pump, and some distilled water. Initially, I was amazed by the concept of the CO2 laser, but it soon became apparent that if I wanted to take this hobby seriously, I would need something bigger and more sturdy. The K40s are not the most well-built machines, and they always needed adjustments. So, I sold it as we were in the middle of selling our house and moving.

A year and a half passed, and off and on, I thought about laser engraving, watched a few videos, and often told my wife I would buy another one. I came close to buying one several times during that period but it never seemed like the right time. Then, in February 2022, I made up my mind to buy one. I did the unthinkable and imported the laser from China to the United States myself (ask me about that fiasco one day). Once I got it home, I unloaded it into the garage, and for a few days, I couldn’t get it to fire. The water protection hoses were switched so the flow was reversed. Once I fixed that, I started my journey into real laser engraving, which was in May of 2022, and I’ve been sailing along ever since.

I shared this story so you would understand that what I make comes from a regular person with ongoing knowledge and experience. You might not see a lot in my store initially, but what you will find are items that I am skilled at making. I take pride in my work, and although mistakes do happen, those mistakes will never be passed on to my customers. I would rather delay sending your order than send something substandard just to meet a quota. I have three kids, all under five, and anything I make that will be around children, I ensure it is as safe as reasonably possible for them to handle. I know many others sell similar items on Etsy and other platforms, but what will distinguish my store is that the entire business—from order intake to shipping and communication—will be handled by either me or my wife. Soon, we’ll even offer you the ability to watch a “Watch-As-We-Make” video of your order. It will highlight the creation process of your order, enhancing the confidence you can have in our efforts to create something worthy of being in your home.

I hope you give me the chance to make you something worth having. Please continue to check my store for items you like, and please spread the word. I look forward to your patronage and welcome any questions or concerns you might have about your order. Please keep in mind, however, that as most items are personalized, the return policy will vary.
